Volunteer

Our volunteers are important to us and the work we do.

ONFE volunteers enjoy opportunities to share their valuable knowledge and skills, gain hands-on experience in mentoring, strengthen bonds with their local communities, and inspire Ottawa’s children and youth with their brilliance.

We strive to accommodate the unique needs of our volunteers, and we tailor volunteering opportunities to our volunteers’ specific interests and preferences.

Be a spark in the lives of children and youth in Ottawa – join our ONFE volunteer community!

Volunteers in Education

Help students succeed in schools

Our Volunteers in Education Program brings caring adults into classrooms to help students acquire skills, understand new concepts, close learning gaps, and gain self-confidence. Volunteers help students and teachers with general classroom support, by tutoring in all subjects at all grade levels both in-person and online, with English as a Second Language, with sports and clubs, and much more. Get in touch with us – we look forward to working with you!

School Breakfast Program

Ensure kids are nourished for the day

Our School Breakfast Program (SBP) provides over 22,000 students in over 200 schools with a healthy breakfast each and every school day. Depending on the specific needs of each school, the roles associated with the School Breakfast Program can vary. SBP volunteers benefit from witnessing the positive impact their volunteerism has on student health, well-being, and learning.

There is a student out there eager to learn from you.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE).

Please be advised that the Volunteers In Education program is on a summer hiatus. Our staff will return to the office in late August and will be pleased to provide information and initiate your screening process at that time. To help us process responses efficiently, we ask that each person complete the form just once.
